Anodising uses anodic oxidation to create a protective layer in the aluminium surface as protection against mechanical or corrosive influences, so it is not a coating process such as painting or electroplating.
In the course of anodising, the base material can be optically enhanced by a supplementary colouring and adapted to customer requirements: the standard colour fan of the European Association of Anodisers (EURAS) shows six standard colours; the designations recommended by DIN 17611 from the aluminium data sheet O 4 of the Gesamtverband der Aluminiumindustrie e.V. are commonly used here, Düsseldorf: EV1 to EV6 (natural ... black), but various other colours are also possible(Sandalor® process). The use of colour limit samples is generally recommended.
This form of surface finishing can be applied to the finished part as piece anodising or to the coil as strip anodising.
