A coil refers to the commercially available form of coiled sheet metal on a take-up reel. This primarily refers to strip steel or strip aluminium products, which are often sold as raw products or semi-finished products already coated or otherwise produced ready for surface treatment, or are stored and further processed.
If it is not possible to work directly from the prefabricated coil in its dimensions, it can be split - so-called coils or slit strips are produced in the longitudinal direction; when split crosswise, thin or medium sheets are produced depending on the sheet thickness.
