"In addition to quality and price, our customers focus on short delivery times" - with the plant expansion of our Hamburg Seevetal site, the claim of large quantity delivery in the shortest possible time becomes reality.
In 2021, SCHRAG|Kantprofile began planning the expansion of the Hamburg Seevetal site in collaboration with TRUMPF's Smart Factory Consulting team. The plant was expanded by around 3,600 square metres and developed into the most modern production plant for lightweight profiles in Europe. Efficient processes give SCHRAG the decisive edge and this is achieved through automation and a sophisticated supply chain concept. A roll forming line paves the way for the automated production of standard parts. Standard parts with a certain repetition frequency are SCHRAG purlins and transoms. The idea is to remove these parts from the existing locations and manufacture them automatically in the expanded plant in Hamburg.
Special profiles, which are often part of the scope of delivery for large orders, should also improve delivery performance. SCHRAG is therefore also investing in a 12.5 metre press in order to bring its production capabilities up to a new market-leading level. In this way, automated and conventional production are intelligently combined.
To summarise, this means The new roll forming system enables the production of purlins and transoms with profile lengths of up to 16 metres. SCHRAG can now produce individual edge profiles up to 12.5 metres in length.
A new coil store to serve the fully automated production of purlins and transoms as well as the individual processing of edge profiles, a lorry plant bypass for efficient delivery and collection and a new office building complete the expansion of the site. As part of the expansion, the site was equipped with a photovoltaic system which, with a total area of 1,370 m² and an electricity yield of up to 256,000 kWh/year, makes an important contribution to an environmentally friendly power supply.
The expansion of the site was successfully completed in September 2022. The "SCHRAG Smart Factory" project is not complete with the expansion in Seevetal. It is a continuous improvement process within the SCHRAG Group.
