In order to seal the connection between the two roof surfaces watertight, the ridge sheet profile is attached to the ridge, at the highest point of the roof, or to the roof mitre, the ridge. The two legs extend over both sides of the roof, sealing the ridge and protecting it from the weather. It also contributes to the stability of the roof and can be manufactured in various materials such as aluminium, zinc or steel.
