Profiling

Profiling

(Roll) profiling is an industrial bending and forming process in which a flat sheet metal strip of a certain infeed width passes through a sequence of pairs of rollers arranged one behind the other. The result is the desired profile shape; the profile now has its construction width (cover width). Due to the necessary overlap of the long sides, this is always smaller than the element width!

Depending on the economic efficiency, almost any profile cross-section can be produced, but an individual roller set (tool) is required in each case, so it is more suitable for large production quantities.

Roll forming is also known as roll moulding.
