Powder coating

Powder coating

Powder coating is a coating process reserved exclusively for electrically conductive materials such as steel or aluminium.

The process itself is divided into four stages: during pre-treatment (1), the surface to be coated is thoroughly cleaned and provided with conversion layers. The latter serve to improve the match between the substrate and the paint.

After complete drying (2) of the surface, the powder is applied (3) and cross-linked in a dryer (4). This cross-linking is also known colloquially as curing.

With powder coating, layer thicknesses of 60...120µm are usually achieved.
