The IFBS, as the International Association for Lightweight Metal Construction, has for decades seen itself as a platform for manufacturers, sales and installation companies in lightweight metal construction, i.e. ultimately the installers of building envelopes made of industrially produced, large-format construction elements (trapezoidal profiles, corrugated profiles, cassette profiles, PUR or mineral wool sandwich elements). These façades are usually not rear-ventilated and therefore do not offer the physical advantages of a VCW as well as individualised architecture.
Like the FVHF, the IFBS represents its members in technical and political matters, provides information and advice on material specifications and construction technology and develops technical standards (IFBS technical rules for lightweight metal construction), which often form the basis for a quality definition in construction or guidelines in the event of a dispute; it offers practical seminars for further training and supports students. It also awards the "IFBS quality mark" to appropriately certified specialist companies.
SCHRAG|Kantprofile GmbH and SCHRAG Ingenieurbüro für Metallleichtbau GmbH are members of the IFBS.
